ABHA's Scan and Share Service Achieves 4 Crore OPD Registrations
The National Health Authority (NHA) has reached a significant milestone by generating four crore tokens for out-patient department (OPD) registrations through the ABHA-based Scan and Share service. This innovative, paperless service was launched in October 2022 under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), aiming to digitize healthcare and enhance patient experience.
Key Highlights:
- Service Overview:
- The ABHA-based Scan and Share service enables patients to register for OPD appointments by scanning a QR code at the registration counter, instantly sharing their ABHA profile. This service is particularly beneficial for vulnerable groups, including the elderly, pregnant women, and individuals with mobility challenges, as it eliminates the need to wait in long queues.
- Operational Reach:
- The Scan and Share service is operational across 8,270 healthcare facilities in 579 districts across 35 states and Union Territories of India.
- An average of 2.2 lakh individuals use the scan and share service daily, highlighting its popularity and effectiveness.
- Leading States:
- Uttar Pradesh has generated the highest number of tokens at 1.11 crore, followed by Andhra Pradesh with 70.35 lakh, Karnataka with 46.61 lakh, and Jammu and Kashmir with 41.81 lakh tokens.
- Notable usage has been recorded at AIIMS in Delhi, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, and Raipur.
- Top Performing Hospitals:
- Government hospitals such as AIIMS in New Delhi (18.3 lakh tokens), Bhopal (7.9 lakh tokens), Bhubaneswar (6.1 lakh tokens), and Raipur (5.7 lakh tokens) have demonstrated outstanding performance.
- Sixteen hospitals from Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, and Jammu and Kashmir are among the top performers in terms of OPD tokens generated.
- Adoption and Incentives:
- Approximately 76% of the token generations are from first-time users, while 24% are from subsequent visits.
- To encourage further adoption, the NHA offers financial incentives to hospitals and Digital Solution Companies (DSCs) through the ABDM's Digital Health Incentive Scheme (DHIS).
