Health Ministry Calls for Integration of Digital Health Portals

The Union Health Ministry has stressed the importance of integrating various digital health systems to improve data management and policy-making. During the release of the annual "Health Dynamics of India (Infrastructure and Human Resources) 2022-23" report, Health Secretary Apurva Chandra called for the integration of the Health Management Information System (HMIS) portal with the Reproductive and Child Health (RCH) portal and other ministry platforms.
Key Points:
- The integration is aimed at ensuring the timely uploading and analysis of health data.
- The report, previously known as "Rural Health Statistics," has been published annually since 1992.
- Chandra highlighted that the report provides critical insights into manpower and infrastructure in the National Health Mission (NHM), aiding policy decisions.
- The data from the report allows cross-state comparisons, helping identify deficiencies and priority areas for improvement.
- By providing annual updates on health infrastructure and human resources, the report supports effective planning and management across rural, urban, and tribal regions.
Chandra emphasized that these health statistics are instrumental in formulating campaigns and making informed comparisons across states, ensuring that policymakers can address health sector deficiencies efficiently.
